On February 22, the panel of "University Academic Competition Evaluation and Management System Research" from China Higher Education Association released the ranking of China’s university academic competitions from 2015 to 2019. This year, 1172 regular undergraduate universities across the country entered the ranking lists (undergraduate-level). CSUST continued to maintain its outstanding performance and got included in three lists.

In the 2015-2019 Academic Competition Ranking of China’s Universities (undergraduate-level), CSUST ranks 52nd; in the 2019 Academic Competition Ranking of China's Universities, it ranks 98th; in the newly added 2015-2019 Academic Competitions Ranking of China's Local Universities, it ranks 13th. Compared with the other colleges and universities in Hunan, CSUST ranks No. 3.

As shown in the above list, CSUST got 64 national awards in 2019 and 209 national awards from 2015 to 2019. Just take some as Examples. In 2019, CSUST won the first prize in the National Undergraduate Structural Design Competition, which is the sixth first prize for the university in 6 consecutive years. In the national "Challenge Cup" competition for college students' extracurricular academic and scientific works, CSUST won 1 first prize and 2 second prizes. In the national college students' advanced mapping technology and product information modeling innovation competition, CSUST won 2 first prizes and 2 second prizes. In the "Foreign Research Institute Cup" National College English Debate Competition, CSUST won the first prize.

 In recent years, CSUST has attached great importance to the quality of talent cultivation. Academic competitions are taken as an important indicator to reflect the discipline construction and teaching efficiency. Teachers of various disciplines are required to attach importance to the cultivation of students' innovative and entrepreneurial abilities as well as practical abilities while carrying out good classroom education. From the awards that CSUST has won, it is clear that the above directions are correct and should be enhanced in the future.
